Energy Research Clips
Over the past 4 weeks in the library, 4th grade classes have spent their time learning about various types of energy, including where they come from and their impact on the environment. After gathering some background knowledge on renewable versus nonrenewable, teams chose one specific energy source to focus on. Students used an app called Clips to share their energy information.

Energy Research and Newscasts
4th grade students completed a multi-week unit in the library to learn about various types of energy, where they come from, and their affect on the environment. Students first gathered some overall background knowledge. After choosing one energy type to focus on, teams of students then cited sources, learned and applied a new note-taking strategy, researched information, and created a paragraph “script” to read from as they “produced” an animated news anchor using the Telegami app to share their energy information. Watch STEP 1, then your student's group video from STEP 2.

Not Too Old for Cinderella
For this last trimester, 4th graders looked for comparisons between what we agreed on as the "traditional" Cinderella and a Cinderella variant. Students pairs created the padlets below to show their observations.

Alphabet School
After exploring Alphabet City, an ABC book where Stephen Johnson uses real life items that happen to create letters of the alphabet, fourth graders began their own creation for an Alphabet School version. Students worked in groups to scout out letters in and outside of the building. They then used iPads to take pictures of them. Group efforts will be joined together within each class in order to create an Alphabet School book for each fourth grade class. Later in the year, these books will be shared with our Kinders!
